Maryland has the unwanted distinction of being among the top states in the country that people moved away from in 2020, according to United Van Lines' Annual National Migration Study, which shows that Americans continue to move West and South. Maryland was 10th on the list states people were leaving.
According to the data, 41% left for a job and 26% of people moved out of Maryland to retire. 19% of people left because of family and 11% moved out for lifestyle.
Most of the people moving out were age of 55 or older.
