Allegany College of Maryland will host an in-person open house at its Cumberland campus beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Thomas Welcome Center on Friday, Mar. 11.
Engage Your Future.
Future students and their families will have the chance to meet one-on-one with ACM faculty and student recruiters to get answers about academic majors and, more importantly, learn how those programs can lead directly into a career or transfer to a four-year institution for future employment. ACM offers students more than 80 associate degrees, certificates and letters of recognition programs. A representative from the college’s new Associate of Applied Science degree in Engineering – Automated Manufacturing Technology program will be available.
Meet the College.
College is far more than what happens in the classroom; it’s about support services that encourage success and student life activities that create a sense of family.
At the open house, future students can learn more about these services, activities, take guided tours of the campus and a virtual tour of Willowbrook Woods, the college’s student housing complex. They’ll have the chance to speak with a Trojan Student Ambassador to ask those questions only students can answer, and talk with a member of the college’s student recruitment team. Vouchers for lunches in the student café will be provided for all registered attendees.
Registration has its benefits.
Tuition vouchers will be awarded, and all prospective students will receive an ACM Future Student gift bag that includes their very own ACM t-shirt. Advance registration is required and available at www.allegany.edu/openhouse.
Connect for information.
Future students and their families can call, email, and text ACM for more information or to set up a virtual meeting or one-on-one campus tour. Contact Lauren Winterberg, coordinator of Student Recruitment, at lwinterberg2@allegany.edu or call 301-784-5124. College Recruiters, Sean Aurigemma and Courtney Jenson are available via text at 301-321-7245 and 240-716-6277, respectively.
Accessible and affordable.
Making college affordable has always been part of ACM’s mission. While the college can’t honor its 1961 tuition rate when a full credit load was only $100 a semester, 90% of ACM students receive financial aid. Allegany County residents may benefit from an up to 50% tuition discount through the Allegany County Opportunity Tuition Subsidy or the Allegany County Opportunity Merit Scholarship program.
The Regional Student Waiver program offers a 15% tuition discount for residents of Bedford, Fulton and Somerset counties in Pennsylvania and Hampshire, Mineral and Morgan counties in West Virginia for students enrolled at the Cumberland campus or in online courses.
The ACM Foundation, the second largest community college foundation in Maryland, provides more than $1 million in scholarships annually.
