The sweet season of maple syrup production is starting in Pennsylvania. A ceremonial “tree tapping” was held in Bradford County with Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding doing the honors. Pennsylvania is the nation’s fifth largest producer of maple syrup, producing nearly 200,000 gallons worth $5.4 million dollars. Many of the maple camps in the state are passed down through families.
