Longtime Democratic Senator Joe Manchin says he will not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president after she advocated ending the Senate filibuster on abortion rights. Manchin now identifies himself as an Independent and he told CNN that eliminating the filibuster would make the Senate the House on steroids.
Manchin told reporters on Capitol Hill he wouldn’t be endorsing Harris.
“Once you start down that road on policies then you’ll have everything under the sun thrown at it and then it will dissipate and then you’ll flip-flop back and forth, you’ll have no continuity whatsoever and no stability in what we do here. I’m not endorsing her,” Manchin said.
Manchin did not seek reelection to the Senate this year.
