Federal statistics show that in the United States, every three hours a person or vehicle is hit by a train. In 2023, more than 2,100 people across the country were injured or killed in railroad crossing collisions or trespass incidents. As part of “See Tracks – Think Train” week, CSX Corporation and Sophie Shulman of the National Transportation Safety Board is reminding drivers and pedestrians to pay attention at railroad tracks…
“Trains are faster and quieter than you think. And they can’t stop quickly so it’s important to always expect a train at a crossing. Obeying flashing lights and crossing gates at a railroad crossing could save your life. And pedestrians should never walk along train tracks. We urge pedestrians to be alert and to only cross tracks at rail crossings.”
