Maryland Governor Larry Hogan may have campaigned for a more inclusive Republican Party, but his second-in-command floated the idea last week that he could run as an independent. The governor himself is doing little to quiet the chatter of a possible presidential run making appearances recently at the Iowa State Fair. Hogan’s Lt. Governor, Boyd Rutherford, added fuel to the political fire by speculating on a Baltimore radio program that may not run in the Republican Primaries- but rather campaign as an Independent. In the days following those comments, Rutherford made it clear that he was just expressing his opinion.
