A public meeting of the Local Development Council for Allegany County will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 4:30 p.m. at the Allegany County Office Building, 701 Kelly Road -Allegany Room 100, Cumberland. All interested individuals are invited and encouraged to attend.
The Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County is the recipient of 3. 75% of the state's portion of the proceeds from the video lottery terminals at Rocky Gap Casino Resort. This is in the form of a local impact grant.
The Local Development Council is comprised of 15 individuals who are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The Council makes recommendations about the use of the local impact grant funds to the Board of County Commissioners.
Jason M. Bennett, CPA, County Administrator for Allegany County, is the Council Chair. Other members include Senator George C. Edwards, Delegate Jason C. Buckel, and Delegate Michael W. McKay. Allegany County Sheriff Craig A. Robertson and Allegany County Health Officer Jenelle Mayer represent local institutions. Skylar B. Dice, Rocky Gap Casino Resort General Manager, represents the license holder. Cory McCagh, 1812 Brewery, represents local business. There is currently one vacancy on the Council, for a representative of a local business. Private citizens who serve include Autumn Eirich, Steve Hout, Jenny Krampf, Brian Miller, Dottie Ruby, and Sam Wilson.
The building is handicapped accessible. There is a ramp and electric doors to access the main entrance. There is an elevator to all levels. This is also ample, free parking in the adjacent, well-lit parking lot.
