A listening session is happening this evening at the Allegany Museum beginning at 7pm to document the historical, cultural, and environmental significance of Wills Mountain State Park. Students from Frostburg State University’s Experiencing Appalachia course have been working on compiling interpretive material for the Wills Mountain State Park as public access moves closer to becoming a reality. The work is supported in part by the Appalachian Collegiate Research Initiative. The session will deal with ways to create a place-based tourism attraction through low-impact recreational opportunities. The park is around 500 acres of undeveloped recreation area on Cumberland’s northwest boundary but has lacked public access since its creation in 1998.
