Library Group Responds to Possible Closures

March 4th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

“Save the Westernport Library” is a group working to save their community library from closure.  Headed by Trish Morgan, she tells WCBC that they were told specifically they needed to raise $122,000 even though the branch could still be closed.  Morgan said director John Taube stated publicly that he has not pursued any other funding or grants for four years, knowing the shortfall was coming…

“No grant writing and no fund raising – he just passed the buck, so to speak, in our opinion to the advisory board for their recommendations. Basically, we feel that because John has not done his job or overseen someone else doing the grant writing and foundational support requests and then trying to raise the budget shortfall.”
