Gov. Justice proposes 10% personal income tax cut
Coming off the greatest year of revenue collections in state history, Gov. Justice announced Wednesday that he is proposing a permanent 10% cut of the personal income tax. Under the Governor’s proposal, the 10% tax cut will be retroactive to the beginning of the 2022 calendar year, putting $250 million back in the pockets of West Virginians.

The Governor announced that he will call a Special Session of the West Virginia Legislature to coincide with this month’s interim meetings on July 24-26 to allow legislators to vote on his proposal.

First probable case of monkeypox in West Virginia
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources has identified the first probable case of monkeypox in a resident of Berkeley County. Out of respect for patient privacy, no additional information will be released. The United States is currently experiencing a monkeypox outbreak with over 600 cases confirmed nationwide, and there will likely be additional cases in West Virginia in the weeks ahead.

Gov. Justice, Babydog honor retiring Forestry bloodhound after 10 years of decorated service
Gov. Jim Justice and Babydog are honoring Raisy, an award-winning member of the West Virginia Division of Forestry (WVDOF) K-9 Investigative Unit, who is retiring after 10 years of sniffing out forest fires and chasing down arsonists. Over the course of her 10-year career, Raisy has been part of 197 wildfire arson investigations in West Virginia, has sniffed out 29 missing person cases, and helped with 78 criminal investigations for outside agencies.
