The Justice Department has filed a civil lawsuit against the owner and operator of the ship that caused the deadly Baltimore bridge collapse. ABC s Derricke Dennis reports…
“The lawsuit seeks more than 100 million dollars to recover the costs of rebuilding the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, plus punitive damages. It collapsed after a ship owned and operated by Singapore-based companies Grace Ocean Private Limited and Synergy Marine Private Limited hit a support pillar, downing the bridge into the Patapsco River. According to the filing, the owners conduct was outrageous, reckless, and that the ship itself was operating under conditions that were not seaworthy, including problems with its electrical systems.
