West Virginia recorded a $36.7 million surplus in December, the sixth month of Fiscal Year 2025, with total revenue collections surpassing $575.2 million. Year-to-date revenue collections exceeded estimates by $41.7 million, totaling more than $2.6 billion for the first half of the fiscal year. According to Governor Jim Justice, the year should end with $150 million in surplus on top of a cut to personal income taxes…
“We’ve got a $41 million surplus in West Virginia right now. We’re projected to end the year probably around $150 million surplus. That with cutting your personal income taxes by probably close to $800 million now.”
