Maryland added 4,700 jobs in June, making the state’s unemployment rate 2% – the 5th consecutive month that the state has seen a decline. The Department of Labor’s June Jobs report shows Maryland retaining a positive comeback from the pandemic with 4,700 new jobs added in June. The major areas of growth were the Mining, Logging, and Construction industries that showed 3,900 new jobs. Leisure and Hospitality also showed growth of 2,800 jobs, driven by summer tourism and recreation. Declines were seen in Trade, Transportation, and Utilities where the report showed a loss of 2,200 jobs and there were also losses in IT, Manufacturing, and Financial Services sectors.
