Jones Sees ACM As Economic Driver

November 16th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

David R. Jones will be the new president of Allegany College of Maryland, succeeding President Cynthia Bambara. Bambara had announced her intention to retire at the end of 2024 and the College Board of Trustees undertook means to find a successor; four finalists were announced in October. Jones has held the position of Vice President of Advancement and Community Relations at ACM where he has worked for 28 years.    Jones spoke to WCBC about how he sees ACM’s role in the community. He will assume the role on January 1…

“I think that as we look at the college, we are truly an economic driver for our region. Both the credit programs we offer as well as the extensive workforce development.  I think that in many ways we are the solution to the economic issues we have and continue to be excited to work with the county and the state and all of our stakeholders to make sure that we meet the needs of our community and region and very thrilled to have that opportunity.”
