Two out of three taxpayers in Maryland may be eligible to file their federal tax returns free, according to IRS spokesman Rodney Bearman. Qualifying taxpayers earning $84,000 or less can file through the IRS Free File available at irs.gov….

   

“We provide the gateway. You go to irs.gov, you meet the eligibility requirements, you’re connected in IRS Free File with one of those partners who then complete your federal return and submit it for you.”

For those earning more than $84,000, Bearman says they can still use the IRS forms available on the website…

   

“Free Fillable Forms doesn’t have an income requirement. So, anyone can use it. Those forms are online at irs.gov and you can complete your tax return and submit it electronically directly to the IRS.”
