A Western Correctional Institution inmate was treated and released at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center after reportedly being stabbed multiple times early Friday. The Cumberland Times News reports the 50-year-old inmate suffered wounds to the neck, shoulder and back, said Gerald Shields, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. He was transported to the hospital by Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department ambulance shortly after the 4 a.m. incident.
