United States Attorney Robert Hur has announced his resignation as chief federal law enforcement officer for the District of Maryland. Hur says he is returning to private law practice.
He was appointed by then-President Donald Trump in April 2018. The resignation is effective Feb 15th.
During his time in office, Hur oversaw the indictments and convictions of several high profile public officials including former Baltimore City Mayor Catherine Pugh, former Baltimore City Police Commissioner Darryl DeSousa, and former Maryland Delegates Cheryl Glenn and Tawanna Gaines.
Jonathan Lenzner, one of Hur’s deputies, will become Acting U.S. Attorney for the district.
