Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties have been awarded $445,000 in grants by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. Community Health and Safety Works grants are to be used to improve the health and safety of neighborhoods through physical design improvements, operational activities, and other community strategies. Local recipients include the Garrett Arts Council, Cumberland Economic Development, and Horizon Goodwill of Washington County.
