House Republicans Issue Statement on Final Passage of Democratic Majority’s Energy Package

April 6th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

House Republicans today issued the following statement regarding the final passage of the Democratic majority’s Energy Package. “We have heard several times throughout our debate that Maryland is an energy desert and that is absolutely true,” said House Minority Leader Jason Buckel. “Maryland is an energy desert, but it is not because of anything nefarious on behalf of the energy industry, it is because of the green energy policies of the Maryland General Assembly. These bills will not significantly change that but will instead double down on the policies that have created this problem.”

“After nearly 90 days of work and a great deal of political theater, there is very little relief for ratepayers in these bills,” said House Minority Whip Jesse Pippy. “When the energy rates increase again this summer, in the height of the air-conditioning season, our ratepayers will see how much so-called ‘relief’ their elected officials provided. They will be outraged by the failure of their elected leaders, and rightfully so.”
