Debate over how to pay for the escalating cost estimates that will be required to fully fund the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future continue with a little more than two weeks left in the legislative session. The blueprint, a sweeping education reform law that was approved in 2020 and is being phased in, has been vigorously debated between Democrats, who control the legislature, and Republicans, largely because of its rising costs as more of it gets implemented each year. Democrats contend that the blueprint is central to the state’s future success.
