Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan continues to try and distance himself from party politics in his race to be the next Republican Senator for Maryland. He recently spoke to Leland Vittert of Newsnation of how he sees his role in the Senate being more of a centrist than always voting along party lines…
"I'm going to be a critical swing vote that's willing to stand up in the middle and fight for what I think is best for the state of Maryland and for the people of America and that's exactly what I've done for the past eight years and so, people know that I'm willing to stand up and have the courage to do that. I'm not going to be a rubber stamp for anybody."
Hogan acknowledges that often he and former President Donald Trump, while both Republicans, do not agree on policy…
"Obviously if they try to put this project 2025 stuff in I'm going to be in very much disagreement. Pretty clear that I'm going to support women's right access to abortion which you know I'm not sure where Trump comes down he changes his position quite often but that's one I have already staked out of position in opposition to that and so look on January 6 we had quite a disagreement as I sent in the National guard to protect the capital."
