Democrat Angela Alsobrooks and Republican Larry Hogan shared the stage in Owings Mills for a debate televised by Maryland Public Broadcasting. Both candidates stayed focused on questions, but did say each misrepresented their records. For Alsobrooks, questions of higher taxes on the more wealthy in the state struck a personal chord, with her referring to her parents’ struggles…
“For people like my aging parents, social security is a lifeline. By 2035, it’s due to run out of money and raising the cap for those earning over $400,000 to save Social Security is going to be really important.”
Hogan was asked how he intends to remain an independent thinker in the Senate, considering his outspoken views against Donald Trump. He says all of his decisions go past party lines…
“I can tell you that just trying to focus on nothing but party is not what I’m going to do. You’re going to hear nothing but red versus blue. I care a lot more about the red, white, and blue.”
