On Sunday, January 26th, 2025, at approximately 0200 hours, a Cumberland City Police officer on patrol located a damaged utility pole creating a hazard to the roadway in the 600 block of Greene St. Upon inspection of the scene, it was discovered that a vehicle traveling W/B on Greene Street had traveled off the roadway, striking the pole. A large amount of vehicle debris and fluid were located at the scene. The vehicle had then fled the scene without reporting the incident. A short time later, the suspect vehicle, a gray 2020 Nissan Altima, was located in the area of Lamont St and Virginia Ave. The vehicle was found to be disabled and abandoned in the middle of the street, and the occupant/s had fled the scene on foot. Around 8:52 PM on Friday, January 3, 2025, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 100 Block of Bedford Street for the report of a motor vehicle crash. Officers were advised that a dark in color two-door Jeep Wrangler had struck a parked car and continued traveling onto Centre Street. The investigation is ongoing and the Cumberland Police Department requests the public’s assistance. Please contact 301-777-1600 with any tips or information.
