Less than favorable conditions at the Cumberland Manor apartments on Baltimore Avenue brought to the attention of the Cumberland City Council Monday evening. The 11-story building has had issues with their two elevators since the 29th of July. On Tuesday, both elevators were out of commission and elderly and disabled renters were concerned about being trapped in their apartments unless they attempted to use the building’s stairwell. A call to property owner Crossgates in McMurray Pennsylvania revealed that both elevators were out of service for a brief time Tuesday but should now be operating following repairs. Local resident Vicki Shewbridge brought the situation to the attention of the Mayor and City Council meeting on Monday…
"Has had an elevator issue for 5 days and a lot of their residents are wheelchair bound and incapacitated and have not been able to get in and out for days and they have had a lot of trouble getting any kind of help and I thought I would bring that here."
