On Friday, April 5th, The Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a BMW in the area of Henderson Ave. During the course of the stop, a police K9 was utilized to conduct a free-air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle which alerted to the presence of CDS inside the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle and it’s occupants, 2 of the occupants were found to be in possession of CDS paraphernalia. As a result, Daniel Gregory Sweitzer, 42, of Bedford PA, and Anthony Eugene Smith, 59, of Cumberland MD, were issued Criminal Citations for the offense. After being served the citations, both subjects were then released, pending trial in District Court.
