Help To Develop Power of Curiosity

August 15th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

With a new school year starting throughout the region, now is the perfect time for parents to double down on helping their children foster a lifelong love of learning.

Part of this comes through aiding in developing a child’s innate sense of curiosity.  Dr. Dennis Maple, CEO of Goddard Systems, tells WCBC that even inquiry-based learning starts well before the school years…

"The first thousand days in the life of a person is the most dynamic. The time when their brains are developing, they're innate nature is growing and so nurturing that through this inquiry-based approach is really important."

Goddard’s Dr. Lauren Loquasto says that asking questions, answering, and listening helps build curiosity for learning…

"There's always a chance for capturing the window of learning. Following the interests of your child. Paying attention to what they are paying attention to. Asking questions, listening to their questions and responding to it and some of that response might be I don't know but let's find out together."
