Great Allegheny Passage surface upgrades getting underway

Some good news for those who travel the Cumberland portion of the Great Allegheny Passage- with surface upgrades getting underway and continuing into next year. The hiking/biking trail is popular with bicyclists, with a 150-mile trail linking downtown Pittsburgh to Cumberland and a connecting trail making it possible to journey all the way to Washington, D.C. While a great deal of the trail is in excellent condition, the local trail area is less than ideal. Cumberland now has an identity as “Trail Town hub,” with its unique location of being the end of the C&O Canal towpath and the beginning of the GAP.
