Maryland State Police arrested a woman following an assault Thursday in Garrett County.
The suspect, Sheena Marie Shiflett, 38, of Grantsville, Maryland is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and assault on a police officer. She is being held without bond at the Garrett County Detention Center.
At about noon on Thursday, troopers from the Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack responded to the 10300 block of National Pike in Grantsville, Maryland for a report of an assault. According to a preliminary investigation, troopers located a female victim, who appeared to have been attacked with a knife. Investigators believe Shiflett traveled to the victim’s residence and a physical altercation occurred, which led to the victim being injured.
Shiflett fled the scene, but troopers located her a short time later and arrested her. According to a preliminary investigation the suspect was transported to the McHenry Barrack for processing, where she assaulted troopers who attempted to place her in a holding cell.
This incident remains under investigation.
