On 4/5/23 at approximately 1300 hours the McHenry Barrack received a phone call from a motorist, advising of a red Ford Taurus passenger car traveling eastbound on I-68 in the area of Grantsville, MD. The caller advised that the vehicle was driving erratically and "all over the road." Troopers from the McHenry Barrack located the vehicle in the area of the 22 mile marker on I-68 and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon contacting the driver, Brandy Ann Fluharty of Monogah, WV, Troopers discovered signs of possible impairment. During the course of the traffic stop a K-9 scan was also conducted on the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle lead to the discovery of CDS Drug Paraphernalia.
As a result, Fluharty was charged with Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, Driving While Impaired by Drugs and Alcohol and Driving While Impaired by a Controlled Dangerous Substance, along with other less serious traffic violations.
Fluharty was released pending her court date.
