On Monday, September 16th, 2024, The Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of Grand Ave for the report of an assault. Once on scene, officers contacted the victim of the alleged assault, who was found to have visible neck injuries. It was learned that an argument broke out in the home between the victim and a male subject. The male subject then began to assault the victim and choked them during the altercation. As a result, Shaka Lumumba Davis, 35, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest. Davis was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.

On December 27th, Officers from the Cumberland Police Department (CPD) were dispatched to a residence on the 900 block of Grand Ave for an assault. Upon arrival Officers began an investigation and determined that Jeremiah James Arbogast assaulted a male at the residence. The male did need medical attention at UPMC and was transported by Cumberland Fire Department. During the assault on the male, Jeremiah James Arbogast also assaulted a juvenile.

Charges: First Degree Assault, Child Abuse
