November 13th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

During a special ceremony on Veterans Day, Maryland Governor Wes Moore gave the posthumous commission of Brigadier General to Harriett Tubman for her military service to the United States and Maryland.  Tubman was key to the “underground railroad” that guided slaves to freedom in the late 1800s.  Moore said Tubman lived the values and virtues he was taught in the army…

“Today, we celebrate the American Moses. Today we celebrate our modern prophet. Today we celebrate a soldier and a person who earned the title of Veteran. Today, we celebrate one of the greatest authors of the American story – Maryland’s own General Harriett Tubman.”
