As his second and final term as Maryland’s 62nd governor winds down, Larry Hogan is in the midst of what will likely be his last official visit to Western Maryland. Hogan, a Republican who also serves as the 2022 states’ co-chair for ARC, will made his first stop Monday afternoon at Frostburg State University. There he was joined by ARC Federal Co-Chair Gayle Manchin, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and Frostburg President Ronald Nowacyzk for an event announcing $47 million in Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization, or POWER, grants. The POWER program is an ARC initiative that “supports economic diversification and revitalization in the region’s coal-impacted communities” . Fifty-two projects have been selected for funding. Hogan said providing much need assistance to rural Maryland has been a priority of his from day one of his administration…
Later, in a stop in Grantsville, Hogan announced funding for a major regional transportation project that will increase economic development and benefit residents of Western Maryland. The $77 million investment will complete U.S. 219 to the Pennsylvania state line. Hogan said the project will boost regional economic development in this north-south connector, helping better connect residents to opportunities in Maryland and Pennsylvania…
