Rich Reinhardt with Percy Public Affairs spoke with the Cumberland Mayor and City Council during last night’s Open Work Session.  Reinhardt updated the council on the Senator George C. Edwards Fund, saying that it is now in Governor Moore’s new Budget.  Though the fund looked like it would be put into a discretionary for the governor, Reinhardt says it no longer is.  He also said the reauthorization bill put forth by Delegate Jason Buckel and Senator Paul Corderman projects $10 million in annual funding beyond 2026…

“One of the great things that I saw come out of this bill was that it’s expanding the program so that it does not sunset in calendar year 2026, but it would go into 2031.  More importantly it’s not going to be a discretionary.  It’s going to continue to have the mandated dedication of an annual ten-million dollars.”
