In recent months, there has been a concerning rise in the theft of road signs across Garrett County’s secondary road system. Over 105 county road signs including road names, stop signs, and hazard warning have been stolen since August. The replacement costs for the signs exceeds $1,500. Sheriff Bryson Meyers is encouraging anyone with information about the ongoing thefts to contact the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office at 301-334-1911. Meyers says the thefts are not just inconvenient, but missing signs put lives at risk.
