On September 8, 2024, deputies with the Sheriff’s Office stopped a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer along Maple Street in Friendsville. The driver of the vehicle, Travis Jay Martin, 30 years old, Lonaconing, Maryland, was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant. A search of Martin revealed a quantity of crack cocaine. Further investigation and search of the vehicle by Detectives with the Garrett County Narcotics Task Force, resulted in the recovery of over 6 ounces of Methamphetamine having a street value of over $17,000.00, as well as a quantity of Subutex.
Also seized as a result of the investigation was a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer, and $1,908.00 in United States Currency. Martin along with a passenger Kristen Kelly Bigelow, 29 years old, Lonaconing, Maryland were both arrested and charged with felony controlled dangerous substance violations. Martin was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Crack Cocaine, and Possession of Subutex. Bigelow was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine.
Both Martin and Bigelow were transported to the Garrett County Detention Center where they are currently being held awaiting a bond hearing. Deputies were assisted by the Maryland State Police, McHenry Barrack during the stop and arrest.
Sheriff Meyers stated, “The Sheriff’s Office will continue to work diligently to investigate controlled dangerous substance violations and will continue to provide resources and investigative efforts to seize illicit drugs from our communities.”
