U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen met Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol with representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency to discuss plans for the next stage of the Chesapeake Bay Program. As 2025 approaches, the target date for the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement, the program is determining how to best meet goals for bay restoration. Senator Cardin said they have a responsibility to protect the Chesapeake Bay for those depending on it and the success of the program rests largely on the public’s support…
“They recognize the value of a clean bay. They recognize the value of their streams and rivers being clean, and we want to underscore that our results need to be translated to the public to reflect their benefit from the bay program. Such as more fishable and swimmable rivers and streams.”
