On Monday, February 3rd, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 400 block of Furnace St for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim of the alleged assault. The victim stated that they and their children were playing outside when they were approached by a female individual. The female subject then began to yell at the victim and family. The female subject then produced a can of wasp killer and sprayed the victim in the face. As a result of the investigation, Helen Sue Kelso-Demontigny, 61, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest. She was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where she was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. She is currently being held without bond.
