The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development has announced $7.1 million in funding for the Homelessness Solutions Program which supports organizations across the state. The funding will be awarded to Continuums of Care across the state to aid in reducing the need for emergency shelter and promoting permanent housing outcomes for Maryland’s unsheltered population. The program will help residents make fast connections to permanent housing, getting the unsheltered off the streets. The department has adopted national best practices that have shown to dramatically reduce homelessness. Maryland has seen a 36% reduction in homelessness since 2015.
