Frostburg State University athletics has recently announced that Emma Gerhold has been promoted to the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Student Development & Success.
Over the past year, Gerhold has played a vital role in Frostburg's effort to achieve NCAA Division II status. She gathered documents necessary to the application process, while designing and laying out the policy and compliance manuals, student-athlete handbook and the department's strategic plan.
In her role as Assistant AD, Gerhold will monitor and support student-athletes' academic performance and progress, oversee the implementation of study hall policies, serve as SAAC advisor, develop leadership and career preparation programs while integrating all of these pieces to creates a stronger student-athletes experience.
Gerhold graduated magna cum laude from Grand Valley State University with her bachelor's degree in sport management in December 2018.
As a student-athlete, Gerhold captured All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors in the pole vault in 2017 and was a two-year member of the GVSU track & field team.
Prior to GVSU, Gerhold was a two-year member of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) track & field team and she earned All-America East Conference (AEC) honors in pole the vault as a freshman in 2015.
During her time at GVSU, Gerhold served as a tutor at the Student Academic Success Center and worked as a gameday operations assistant for Grand Valley State football games. She also worked with the Lakers Fueling Station, helping to distribute nutritional snacks to varsity athletes, while educating athletes on proper nutrition.
