The Allegany/Garrett Counties Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association has acquired over 200 First Alert smoke alarms thanks to a partnership with Lowe’s Home Improvement.  The smoke alarms have a ten year guarantee and will be distributed to homes across Allegany and Garrett Counties.  Local fire companies can request up to five alarms for use in homes in their first response areas.  The alarms cannot be used in rentals or for raffles or other fundraising activities.
