Delegate Mike McKay announced Tuesday the formation of the Office of Post Pandemic Opportunities, headed by former Allegany County Commissioner, Bill Valentine who will serve as Development Coordinator. The purpose of this office is to address the needs of residents in District 1-C, Allegany and Washington Counties, during the recovery from the pandemic.
The intention with this new office is to meet with local officials, organizations, businesses, community colleges, and other stakeholders to help recover and create a more sustainable economy. With new ideas and partnerships, the goal is to help educate members of the communities to create an easier path to finding employment. The office also plans to work with the Chambers of Commerce to help businesses find qualified employees and help them receive the training that is needed for these potential employees.
