FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON

January 31st, 2025 by WCBC Radio

National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for portions of western Maryland, including the following area, Garrett and eastern West Virginia, including the following area, Western Grant through this afternoon. Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be possible.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Heavy rainfall on top of residual snowpack will lead to increased runoff concerns. 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected across the watch area today. The combination of one to two inches of rain combined with 2 to 5 inches of snow water liquid equivalent from remaining snowpack on the ground will lead to flooding concerns. – Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information.
