The first five recipients of the Cumberland Relocation package were announced on Tuesday as part of the consent agenda of the Cumberland Mayor and City Council. Five families from across the country will receive grant funding not to exceed $20,000 from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development to relocate and renovate an existing home or make a down payment on a newly constructed home in the city limits. The grantees come from West Virginia, Baltimore, Colorado, and Arizona.
“We tried to get a good mix and the group that did the interviews and did the due diligence to select these people. Went through them, interviewed them a couple times a piece and really looking forward to these people coming and becoming a part of our community.”
