Maryland’s State Fire Marshal is reminding families to be safe this winter and beware of carbon monoxide poisoning. The caution comes after a man in Cecil County died earlier this week in his home where incomplete combustion of the home’s furnace was a factor. “According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, nearly half of carbon monoxide deaths occur in the winter months. Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning mimic those of the common cold or flu, so headache, dizziness, nausea, or vomiting. So it’s so important to have carbon monoxide alarms to make sure that you’re alerted to CO levels in your home.”
