Fire Marshal Shows Proof Smoke Alarms Save Lives

November 22nd, 2024 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal reminds citizens that two families in the area are safe thanks to working smoke alarms.  One fire was at a mobile home in Rawlings and the other at a residence in Kitzmiller.  Working smoke alarms alerted the occupants and saved lives.  The fire marshal’s office has been making a concerted effort to have every home and business protected and this past week’s incidents highlighted the importance of this effort.  The best practice is to place smoke alarms on each level of a home and batteries should be changed at least once a year.
