FCC Head Visits Asheville In Hurricane Aftermath

October 9th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, over fifteen radio stations in four states remain off the air.  Federal Communications Chair Jessica Rosenworcel visited the Asheville area and said the mountainous terrain has made recovery more difficult.  FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr was also in the area, speaking with emergency management officials working to restore communications services throughout the region.  Most cell tower sites have come back on line since the storm, with the hardest hit region remaining western North Carolina.
