Yesterday a caller to the WCBC Dave Norman Program said several local officials were pursuing a plan which would privatize Rocky Gap State Park.
One of the officials referenced was District 1 State Senator George Edwards, who said that there is no plan to eliminate public access to Lake Habeeb or the amenities of the park, but there have been discussions about various proposals which would involve the private sector…
Edwards also told WCBC News that there have been ongoing statewide conversations that would, for example, allow private firms to expand cabin capacity in state parks, paying a negotiated fee for the right to do so. A pilot program could take place at any of a number of parks across the state.
