In conjunction with the Great Allegheny Passage Conservancy, Mountain Maryland Trails has installed an e-bike charging station at Canal Place, downtown Cumberland.
The popularity of e-bikes for recreational travel is rising in the United States. This evolution in cycling technology is gaining global traction, driven by benefits that extend far beyond convenience. More than ever, e-bike users travel on trails, roads, and neighborhoods. Owners of lodging properties, restaurants, outfitters, grocery stores, and more near the Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O Canal National Historic Park stand to benefit from this growing group of ebike users.
According to John Emerick, Vice President of Mountain Maryland trails and an avid e-bike rider, “Canal Place, as the junction of the C&O Canal and the Great Allegheny Passage, is a wonderful place for our first e-bike charging station and will draw additional cyclists downtown.”
Mountain Maryland Trails is a nonprofit volunteer organization working in partnership with the Allegany County Government in the maintenance, development, and promotion of the Maryland portion of the Great Allegheny Passage, as well as promote recreational trail development within Mountain Maryland and the surrounding area.
