West Virginia’s bees are not happy with the ongoing drought in the state. The state’s Department of Health is seeing a rise in emergency room visits related to bee stings. Wasps, yellow jackets, and hornets are becoming more aggressive with the seasonal transition to fall. State public health entomologist Eric Dotseth says the current conditions of low precipitation and less flowering plants are leading insects to search for food and water, leading to increased encounters with humans.
