Another popular tradition has fallen victim to the Coronavirus pandemic, with the official announcement Thursday that the downtown Cumberland Christmas tree lighting will be a virtual event this year. It is the latest in a series of downtown holiday events being handled differently this season. Last month, no Halloween Parade could be held, and the usual trick-or-treat activities were essentially reduced to a drive by night at Constitution Park.
